The CareerExplorer career test was written by a team of psychologists with years of experience in the field of Psychometrics. Our questions and algorithms are unique to CareerExplorer, but are built on decades of study and development in cognitive ability testing. We use information from several sources for our career reports, including data from the U.S. Department of Labor, the UK Government, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and data from our in-house content team.
We are committed to delivering an impartial and unbiased test, and have undertaken extensive testing against ethnicity, gender, and age bias; the results of these studies can be found on our science page. We also test the reliability of our results by comparing our recommendations to user feedback. This approach allows us to continuously optimize our results over time.
